Example-Energizer Game

Energizer Game/Activity

Need an energizer, something to get them out of their seats, and a way to reinforce content? Any training that is one-half day to one day is a perfect fit for an activity called "A to Z Review." It can be used with any group size and takes about 15-20 minutes. First, divide the class into teams (teams as small as three will work, ideal team size five to seven people). Each team will need one sheet of large flip chart paper and a flip chart marker. Next, each team will select a scribe (someone to write). The scribe hangs up the flip chart paper on the wall. The scribe then draws a vertical line down the middle of the sheet and prints the letters A to M down the left margin and N to Z at about midpoint on the sheet. Next, each team gathers around their flip chart, and for each letter of the alphabet, they brainstorm a word/phrase/concept from the course content, and the scribe writes down the information. Allow the teams about 10 minutes to come up with information for their chart. When the time is up, have all teams do a "Gallery Walk," where they rotate around the classroom (instruct each person to bring pen and paper with them), reviewing each team's A to Z flip chart, and making notes of any different ideas/concepts that were covered by others.
